Super Huggie Bros

Editor's Review :

The first time I saw the title Super Huggie Bros, I thought, "Wait, did Huggy Wuggy just buy over Mario's franchise?" Turns out... kind of, yeah. What we've got here is a side-scrolling, coin-collecting, brick-smashing platformer that proudly wears its retro influences on its oddly fuzzy sleeve. And by "retro," I mean this game is practically screaming 1985 from every pixel. You jump on enemies, break blocks, collect golden coins, dodge fire traps, and search for keys to open magical gates. If you've ever played a mustachioed plumber game, you'll know exactly what you're doing. But instead of an Italian hero, you get a blue fuzzy guy with a toothy grin and a surprisingly bouncy step. Strange? Definitely. Entertaining? More than I expected. Controls are straightforward: left, right, jump - and occasionally "panic smash" when you land in the middle of too many enemies. The levels are colorful, slightly chaotic, and packed with secrets - some hidden coins here, a mystery block there, or a sneaky enemy waiting behind a palm tree like it knows your jump timing is one second off. There's a rhythm to the way Super Huggie Bros flows: jump, bop, collect, repeat. Enemies come in all shades of cute-dangerous, and yes, you can stomp them into oblivion, which never stops being satisfying. The keys-to-door mechanic adds a bit of puzzle flavor, forcing you to explore rather than just charge forward. And let's not forget the soundtrack - it's got that familiar chirpy, looping tune that gets stuck in your head whether you like it or not. But here's the thing: even if it's not reinventing anything, Super Huggie Bros knows what it wants to be - and it commits. It gives you just enough challenge to keep you on your toes without becoming frustrating. It lets you feel like a hero while making sure you never take yourself too seriously. There's something oddly comforting about hopping over gaps and bonking blocks, even when it's a fuzzy blue monster doing the hero work. And while I still don't understand why Huggy's chasing treasure through tropical islands, I've stopped asking. I'm too busy collecting coins, avoiding lava pits, and humming along to the tune. If you're in the mood for something familiar with a weirdly charming twist, throw on your imaginary overalls and give Super Huggie Bros a spin. You might just find yourself smiling mid-jump.
