Editor's Review :

You don't ease into Sonic Frontiers - you're thrown headfirst into a surreal island, ancient ruins scattered everywhere, and mysterious creatures staring you down. Sonic might be known for high-speed loops and green hills, but this time, it's different. This game opens with a sense of quiet tension, like something much bigger is happening - and you're right in the middle of it. Your goal is to find the missing Chaos Emeralds, but that quest quickly becomes more than a collectible hunt. Strange enemies appear. Puzzles pulse with weird energy. And all around you is the haunting, empty beauty of the Starfall Islands, a world that feels old, cracked, and waiting for answers. It's not just about speed anymore - it's about exploration, combat, and uncovering secrets. The gameplay mixes classic Sonic mechanics with a more open, "go where you want" feeling. You'll still be running full throttle, bouncing off springs, grinding rails, and doing high-speed platforming across huge zones. But now you'll also be fighting off enemies, solving ancient puzzles, and activating strange machines. You can use the arrow keys to move, space bar to jump or attack, and occasionally interact with glowing runes or combat arenas. The combat is simple but flashy - punches, kicks, homing spins - and the enemies are varied enough to keep you on your toes. Boss fights feel grand, even in browser form, and between each battle, you're collecting golden rings to survive and unlock the next part of the island. Every level has a clear goal, but how you get there often depends on how well you can read the terrain and time your moves. What makes Sonic Frontiers stand out - even in this lightweight version - is how it captures the spirit of something bigger. The world feels open but not empty, mysterious but not confusing. There's a rhythm to the game: race fast, explore slowly, fight smart, and always keep moving. The visuals are stylized and clean, the sound effects punchy, and the moments when Sonic launches into full-speed motion across floating platforms feel genuinely epic. Whether you're here for the platforming, the combat, or just to soak in the weirdly beautiful mood, Sonic Frontiers delivers something a little different from your usual Sonic run. And when you finally collect enough Chaos Emeralds and face down those strange ancient enemies? It doesn't just feel like a win - it feels earned.
