If you've ever wondered what it would feel like to throw Mario into a chaotic, side-scrolling obstacle course with questionable physics - well, Super Mario Bros. Riders is pretty much the answer. This game feels like a strange but entertaining tribute to old-school platformers, with Mario swapping out his usual mischief for a fast-paced ride across coin-littered hills, bottomless pits, and cartoonishly exaggerated traps. It's not quite a racing game, not quite a runner, and definitely not a deep narrative adventure - but it is the kind of experience where things go wrong in the most ridiculous ways possible, and somehow, that's part of the charm. The gameplay itself is simple and easy to get into. You press to jump, time your landings, and collect as many coins as possible while dodging everything from spikes to fireballs. The controls are fairly responsive, although the jump physics take a little getting used to - especially when Mario seems to float just a bit longer than you'd expect, or clips an edge by accident. The level design feels like a mash-up of classic arcade runner layouts: fast starts, sudden hazards, and moments where you have just enough time to shout "Nope!" before falling into a trap. It's more about memorizing patterns and staying alert than mastering any complex mechanic. And while it might not reward precision, it certainly rewards persistence. Get knocked out? Hit restart. You'll probably do better next time. Or not - but at least it'll make you laugh. Of course, Super Mario Bros. Riders isn't aiming for subtlety. The graphics are colorful and cartoonish, the music loops with wild energy, and the whole thing feels like a Saturday morning cartoon episode set on fast forward. It's a bit repetitive after a while - levels don't vary all that much, and the challenge mostly comes from reaction speed. There's no score tracking or deeper progression system either, so once you've cleared a few rounds, you've pretty much seen what the game has to offer. Still, for a few chaotic, low-stakes minutes of fun, it absolutely delivers. It's goofy, fast, occasionally unfair, but never boring. If you're just looking to waste a bit of time and maybe shout at your screen in a good-natured way, Super Mario Bros. Riders gets the job done with a wink and a wobble.
